Sharing common route with classic route of Everest Base Camp trek, it is famous trekking peak of Khumbu region. Lobuche East stands 6119m high and is technically difficult for climbers. Proper guidance and equipment are required for success and safety. Often combined with Everest Base Camp trek, this trip provides amazing experience to the people.
Lobuche is located in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It is near Khumbu Glacier and many huge mountains in the region including Mt. Everest. It’s just a few kilometers away from Mt. Everest. It shares a common route with many others including the famous route of Everest Base Camp. Lobuche East and Lobuche West are the two main summits that make Lobuche. They are 6189m and 6145m tall respectively. Lobuche East is categorized as a trekking peak while Lobuche West is categorized as an expedition peak. They both need separate permits from Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). Lobuche East is our destination for the trip.
As it shares a common route with the classic trekking route of Everest base Camp, it gives all the view and experience too. Additional 3 days of trekking route can help to include the Everest Base Camp trek too. This peak is often used by climbers as a support climbing peak before heading for main expeditions like Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse. It helps them to acclimatize to the environment and refresh their climbing skills.
Although, trekking peak, Lobuche must be well respected. Despite its relatively low altitude from other high mountains, it has a rough and rocky terrain. It is a pyramid-shaped mountain with a difficult rock formation. It must be climbed with the help of an experienced and trained climbing guide for safety reasons. Proper guidance and equipment can make difference between success and failure. Physical fitness is expected as part of the trip.
