Mt. Ama Dablam Expedition 2022
Ama Dablam in local terms means mother’s necklace(pendant) for its shape which looks like the arms of a mother protecting her child, and the hanging glacier thought of as the Dablam, the traditional double-pendant containing pictures of the gods, worn by Sherpa women. People also calls Ama Dablam as “ Matterhorn of the Himalaya” but locals says Matterhorn stops where Ama Dablam starts as the base camp is situated at the altitude of 4200 meters. Ama Dablam was first scaled by Mike Gill (NZ), Barry Bishop (USA), Mike Ward (UK) and Wally Romanes (NZ) via the Southwest Ridge on 13 March 1961. The South-West Ridge is the standard and most popular route taken by the climbers to ascend Mt. Amadablam is considered as a technically difficult peak. The amazing and breath taking panoramic views of huge mountains like Everest, Cho-Oyu, Makalu and Lhotse on the way to the top of AmaDablam increases the excitement of climbing.
