Nepal's two leading mountaineering organizations, the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and the Expedition Operators Association Nepal (EOAN), have denied any involvement with the Everest Summiteers Summit held in May. Their statements came after a complaint to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) accused organizer Everest Alliance Nepal (EAN) of misrepresenting itself as a national body, issuing unauthorized summit certificates, charging illegal fees, and mishandling funds. While the NMA called the event an unauthorized imitation of its official World Summiteers Summit, EAN denied all allegations, stating it followed legal procedures and organized the event to promote Nepal's adventure tourism. The CIAA and the Department of Tourism are now investigating the matter.
