Jamacho Day Hike Overview

Located on the outskirts of Kathmandu Valley, the Jamacho Day Hike offers a quick escape into nature at 2100 meters. The hike is named after Jamacho Monastery, a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists, situated on Nagarjun Hill (Vindya Mountain), home to a statue of Nagarjuna Buddha.

Easily accessible from Kathmandu, the hike starts near Balaju Bypass and takes about 2-3 hours to reach the top. The path, part of Shivapuri National Park, is a 5 km trail through lush woods with wildlife and birdwatching opportunities. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and nearby mountain ranges like Annapurna, Langtang, and Manaslu.

Jamacho Hill also serves as a spiritual retreat, perfect for meditation, yoga, or simply soaking in the tranquility. The hike is short (6-7 hours) and ideal for travelers with limited time, offering both natural beauty and cultural significance.
