Mera Peak is beginner friendly and easy trekking peak in Everest region of Nepal
Mera Peak is adventurous and beginner friendly peak in Everest Region. It is suitable for those who wants to begin their journey in field of adventure. Beautiful mountains views including five 8000 meter high peaks can be viewed on the way to this peak. Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Cho-Oyu and Mt. Kanchenjunga are major peak of the region. In addition there are number of other peak which can be view on the trail. Mera peak is 6476 m high.

Mera Peak lies in Khumbu region Nepal. It stands 6,476 m high. It is the highest trekking peak of Nepal. It is suitable for those who wants to begin their journey in field of adventure. Mera has three main summits; Mera North 6476m, Mera Mid/Central 6461m and Mera South 6065m. Mera North is standard summit for the Mera peak.

This peak is a non-technical peak and can be easily climbed under the guidance of experienced climbing guide. But physical fitness is required to complete the trip. It is physically strenuous to summit the peak.

In the route to Mera, tourists goes remote and untouched Hongu and Hinku valleys of the Khumbu region. This trip provides stunning view of five 8000 meters peaks. Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Cho-Oyu and Mt. Kanchenjunga. In addition, there are numbers of other peaks that can be seen. Culture is another aspect of the trip. Main residents of the region are Sherpa, who are known for their success in mountaineering field. The culture and lifestyle of local people is quite interesting to outsider.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu International Airport.

Arrival in Kathmandu and pick up and transfer to hotel by office representative. Hang around Thamel on availability of time. Acquire and prepare necessary gear for the trip. Short briefing in evening with welcome dinner.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla (2800m) and trek to Chutanga (3430m) 4 hours.

From Kathmandu, flight to Lukla is amazing experience. Flight provides amazing view of mountains and hilly region filled with dense green forest. Small airstrip in hill provides unusual experience. From Lukla, you will head Chutanga. Stay overnight in Chutanga.

Day 03: Chutanga – Tuli Kharka via Zatrwa La Pass (4610m) 5-6 hours.

After some gradual ascend, we will reach steep uphill climb. We will cross Zatrwa La Pass today which is at height of 4600m. From top, the view of many peaks can be seen. Kongdi Ri, Karyolang Peak, Number Himal, Lumding Himal and many more can be viewed. The trail passes through number of herds of yak that are grazing in pasture lands. We will stay in a tea house at Tuli Kharka.

Day 04: Tuli Kharka – Kothe (3600m) 6-7 hours.

It is a gradually uphill and downhill trek. The trail goes through dense forest of high altitude trees like Pines, Oaks, and Rhododendrons. On the way, we will reach beautiful Hinku Valley and also offer first view of Mera Peak. We will follow Hinku river banks to reach Kothe.

Day 05: Trek from Kothe – Thangnak (4350m) 4-5 hours.

The trail moves to Gondishung which follows the ridge of the Hinku River. Along the trail we will see monastery built around cave known as Lungsumgba Gompa. It is 200 years old and important Buddhist monument of the region. We will stay in a teahouse at Thangnak.

Day 06: Thangnak – Khare (5045m) 5-6 hours.

Today will be difficult walk because of steep moraine trails. It is a lateral moraine moving towards Hinku Nup and Shar Glaciers. It is uphill steep climbs which makes in difficult in high altitude. The view of Mera Peak become closer.

Day 07:Khare Exploration day

Acclimatization is very important in altitude. It is best to rejuvenate body to climb further in altitude. You can rest and enjoy view of mountains of surrounding

Day 08: Mera High Camp (5800m) 4-5 hours.

We will ascend slowly and gradually. Although non-technical, it takes physical ability for person to reach high camp. We will climb the crest of the moraine and climb steep slope of snow to reach the bolder below the Mera Glacier. You can view stunning five 8000 meters peaks. Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Cho-Oyu and Mt. Kanchenjunga from here and other few peaks like Mt. Barunste, Mt. Gaurishankar and Chamlang.

Day 09: High Camp – Mera peak summit (6476m) and Back to Mera High Camp (5800m) 8-9 hours.

This day will be highest point in the trip by reaching 6476 meters. We will start ascend the early morning and climb down.

Day 10: Mera High Camp – Khare.

We trace back the same route as we ascend.

Day 15: Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu.

On arrival to Kathmandu, Sherpa Khangri representative will transfer you back to the Hotel. It will be free day. In evening, dinner with cultural dance will be arranged to celebrate the trip.

Day 16: Transfer to International Airport for final departure.

Journey with us end here. Office representative will take you to International airport for final departure as per schedule requirement.
