MoU signed between TAAN and 4 Rural Municipalities for the development and promotion of Buddha Himal-Himalchuli Great Lake Circuit Trail. This gives a joint of new treking route joining Manaslu and Annapurna region.
On 17th May 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) and 4 Rural Municipalities (RMs) in the southern Manaslu region for the exploration, design, development and promotion of Buddha Himal-Himalchuli Great Lake Circuit (BHGLC) trail in the southern Manaslu Region. The 4 RMs include Ajirkot RM in Gorkha and Dudhpokhari RM, Dordi RM and Marsyangdi RM in Lamjung district.
The proposed trekking trail will traverse through (i) two prominent peaks: Buddha Himal and Himalchuli, (ii) 7 Sacred Lakes, including Nage Pokhari, Dudh Pokhari, Meme Pokhara, Baraha Pokhari, Thulagi Lake etc., (iii) Lush Green forests and beautiful pasture lands, and (iv) rich cultural villages of various ethnic groups such as Gurung, Ghale, Tamang, Sherpa, Newar etc.
Under the MoU, local governments allocate the required financial resources and mobilize local stakeholders, whereas TAAN delivers its technical expertise in the (i) Exploration of trail, (ii) Preparation of trail development action plan and DPR, (ii) Preparation of promotional trekking map, trekking map and documentary, and (iv) Launching of the trail product together with Nepal Tourism Board, agency operators and travel media.
This will give a new niche tourism product and development on locals sector along Nation tourism endevadours.
